Higgins is Happy! He loves his ball and should be on your baseball team because he can pitch the ball right to you and even catch a fly ball. He’ll also, catch that popcorn treat in mid -air.

He’s a typical active, one year old, Border Collie, that loves to be next to you. Following you from room to room and looking adoring at you with his beautiful amber eyes is just part of his job. He weighs 48 lbs. and has a long, silky, black and white coat that gets oohs and ahs from strangers.

He is learning good manners by sitting and no mouthing for attention. He will shake hands and down if you promise a milk biscuit. His joyful personality says, “I’m your buddy” and he shows it with his affection.  Higgins is friendly with all ages but his exuberance could be a little overwhelming to a toddler.

With other dogs his energy for play and friendliness makes him a great team player. He loves meet and greet at the dog park.  This is where we are working on his recall.  Having a fenced yard will guarantee his love of chasing squirrels, will keep him safe.

In the yard and on walks he is a true scent hound. So much so, that he needs a lot of consistent training on leash.  We know he will accomplish this in time because he is a pleaser.

Helping in watering the flowers gets him doing jumps and twists in the air. Wearing him out makes him a “good boy”.  He can be quite calm inside if exercised, and sleeps like a baby through the night. He doesn’t like kennels but kept in the bedroom on our daily outings, he does just fine if shoes and socks are put up and left with a chewable bone or toy.

Higgins is a smart dog, who with continued training on his obedience, will make the owner, who will invest some time in him, a wonderful sidekick, family dog or athlete.  He is just waiting for that home that will adore him!

Higgins is being fostered in the Olathe, KS area.
