Winston is a 5 year old smooth coated Border Collie who weighs a slightly chubby 55 pounds. He is a medium energy boy who loves meeting new people with wiggles and gentle kisses. His favorite thing in life is going on walks. Winston loves hanging out outside with his people. He doesn’t play with balls or squeak toys, so walking is his primary energy outlet. Winston likes to kiss children at the dog park but may prefer to avoid the sound and energy of toddlers.

Winston is treat motivated and picks up training quickly. We are working on the “wait” command when the house and car doors open. After initial exuberance, he walks politely on leash and would make a good running buddy. He takes treats politely and shares food, treats, space, and toys with other dogs. Every evening, he engages in a few rounds of gentle wrestling and “biteyface” with his 10 year old and 2 year old housemates. He loves laying on the couch when allowed, but watches for and respects house rules if they differ. Winston is crate trained, potty trained and enjoys the company of other dogs. He ignores cats and ducks.    

Winston originally came to into MO-Kan’s care from a rural pound in 2020, having been turned in for chewing during a thunderstorm. He was recently returned to our care for similar issues. He was the only dog in that home. He would do best with regular exercise and another dog to ease his separation fears. He can be stubborn if he’s not ready to come in from the backyard or ready for crate time. We are seeking a home with positive reinforcement training experience for this goofy, loving boy.
