Tash has spent the last several weeks in his foster home learning how to be a dog.  You see, he and 3 of his siblings were living with other dogs in an outdoor junkyard, with little to no human interaction. As you can imagine, he’s had a lot to learn about the good life as a dog.  Lucky for him, he’s a quick learner!  Foster mom says give him about a week and he’ll steal your heart (right, foster mom, we know it only took about 5 seconds).

Tash has taken quickly to his foster siblings, always wanting to be near them, going on walks with his “pack”, and eagerly learning from them.  He really likes the other border collie in his foster home, and whether she likes it or not, he can always be found following her every move.  She corrects him when he gets puppy obnoxious and he’s learning good doggie social skills from her.

Though Tash bonded quickly with his foster fur siblings, it’s taken him a little longer to get used to his humans.  But after several days, he decided that they are pretty awesome and are a great source of yummy treats.  All he has to do is look cute and give them his actual puppy dog eyes, and they cave and give him treats.  Tash will need to have another confident, social dog in his forever home. He is leery of new people that visit and it takes time for him to trust them.  He does much better when he’s with another social dog.  At this time, he is scared of children.  He may be ok with older kids who are patient and dog savvy, and will likely enjoy playing with kids, but that will take time and patience in building his confidence.

Recenly, Tash got to experience a large, 4 acre dog park. Though his stayed close to his foster family, he learned quickly that is was fun to be around other people and dogs. He loves toys.  All the toys. They are all his favorites, but the squeaky ones seem to be wearing out a little faster.  Like a typical puppy, he likes to chew, so his new home will need to have plenty of puppy appropriate hard chews for him.   Tash loves lots of other things as well.  He loves the outside.  He recently discovered how much fun a ball can be and of course he likes sticks.  And, he’s a little boy, so he likes toads…mostly just nudging them with his nose, because they taste yucky!

Tash is doing well learning to walk on a leash.  He does well in his crate, especially if he’s next to one of his fur siblings.  He is taken outside every few hours, and with this schedule, hasn’t had any accidents in the house.

He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and on monthly Heartworm, flea and tick preventatives.  He will need a fenced yard in his new home, and a family who is tolerant of puppy kisses.

Tash is being fostered in the Columbia, Mo area.
