How cute is this young boy?! He’s got puppy eyes for DAYS!

This is Henry. He is an approximate 10 month old medium-high energy border collie mix. He came to MO-KAN Border Collie Rescue in June, but due to luxating patellas, he had two separate surgeries to repair his knees. Because he has been on kennel restriction for the last month (which he does not like), his full running and activity potential have not quite been tested. He will still require rest with a gradual increase in his activity after he is adopted.

He has been very good at pottying outdoors and walking on the leash with his fosters, but he does get overly excited when other animals are around. This is something that will improve with training and an increase in activity with lessened kennel time.

Henry is extremely bright; he very quickly learned to sit and lay down. As he adjusts post-surgery, his foster has confidence that he can be trained to do many new tricks. He is not super keen on snuggling with people, but he does love to flop over for a good belly rub!

Henry is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm prevention. He is great around older children, but he does like to jump. Due to this, he may not be suitable in a home with small children. Henry would also do best in a home with no cats, or cats who are exceptionally patient with dogs who want to play.

Henry will not not be available until at least the end of August. We will be taking pre-applications at this time to find him the best match. Henry needs an owner with herding breed experience, and someone committed to continued training on manners and impulse control.  Henry also needs continued work on house breaking and crate tolerance. Henry requires a securely fenced yard at this time.

He is being fostered near Springfield, Missouri.
