Fiona is all about being a border collie, and this little girl just wants to have FUN! At 10 months old, she sure loves to play. She will play with toys, loves to chew on bones & chew toys, but chasing a fluffy toy on a rope or wrestling with other dogs is her favorite. She’s good in the car and on walks. She is a busy dog that wants to always be right in the middle of everything, but she is also a wiggly, snuggly girl who will charm her way into extra cuddles and sleeping right up against you at night. She is fascinated by cats, but gets along with them very well, backing away immediately if they start to tense up. She absolutely loves to play with other dogs and manages to convince nearly everyone to play with her, but she’s usually responsive to their signals when they don’t want to play anymore. She is very friendly and happy to greet men, women and children alike. Fiona is a high energy border collie and will need a job or high level of exercise and mental stimulation. She is extremely clever, an independent thinker, and a problem solver who will come up with her own entertainment if left to her own devices, but she does want to please and would love to work with a partner. She will work for treats, but they don’t always trump an exciting environment. She doesn’t quite understand the game of fetch and retrieve yet & currently has little to no interest in playing ball or frisbee, but she will do almost anything to chase a fluffy teaser-style toy. She is very fast and has great balance for making tight responsive turns too. Although still a puppy, she is fully grown and weighs in at 28 pounds and is about 17-18” at the shoulder. Fiona knows sit, down, has a fair recall, and is learning to wait. Because she has strong herding instincts she will do best in a home without small children as she will get excited and nip at any fast moving ankles. Her strong herding instinct also makes her highly sensitive to light, noise and motion, but a savvy border collie owner will be able to help avoid letting her fixate. She is a bundle of joy and energy packed into a small, adorable package that causes everyone who meets her to fall in love. Are you ready to be charmed? Fiona needs a fenced yard to keep her safe. She is being fostered in the KC area. More information on Fiona and other great dogs, including adoption information and application, is available at www.mokanbcrescue.org
