Chance is 9-12 months old and a mere 22 lbs! This pocket pup overcame the odds of near starvation over the winter and has grown into a little gem of a dog under MOKAN’s care. Chance is crate trained (but may fuss a little is he’s missing out on something or thinks his foster parents are sleeping too long) and house trained. He’s a little behind on learning to “hold it” though so he needs let out more often to not have accidents and may need a break overnight. He has been working up to about 7 hours though. Chance is full of energy! He loves to run. He loves to play. He loves his foster sister and will play with her until they both collapse. He does great with cats and is not particularly interested in the pet rabbits at his foster home. He loves any manner of toys, chews and snacks. In fact I’m pretty sure his life motto is “show me the cookie!” Chance is super smart and super food motivated. He’s been exploring agility equipment and thinks tunnels are the best! This boy could probably excel at any sport you would like to try as well as running, hiking and more. He loves car rides and adventures and when he’s finally tired he loves a good snuggle. Chance is sometimes aloof or indifferent to strangers. But he makes friends fast once the cookies come out. While he loves playing with other dogs he has met a few dogs he has greeted awkwardly by barking in their face, including one dog in his foster home. With cookies and a few days time he stopped this behavior. However, continued social skills and exposure to new people, dogs and places will be important to help Chance reach his full potential. A basic obedience or Canine Good Citizen class would be a great activity for his now owner to use to bond with him. Chance knows basic commands like sit, circle and down. He also runs to his kennel with delight and waits inside for his meals or treats. He is working on leash walking and basic manners like keeping all four feet on the floor. Chance would do better with older kids as he does still jump and also sometimes mouths people. Chance requires a standard above ground fence to keep him safe.
