Ace is a dog that has come through tremendous neglect. He was found in an abandoned home with forty other animals. His happy spirit has always, always shone through, even though he suffered starvation and some health issues. Thankfully coming into Border Collie Rescue all of those miserable conditions were quickly mended. He has gained 8 pounds, and his shiny coat suits his kindly, gentlemanly manner.

The last issue has found him to be heartworm positive.  In his foster home he has been a model patient.  The veterinary report for a healthy future is in the cards for Ace.

He enjoys being with people of all ages. “Lover Boy” could be a good nickname for him. He does get anxious if left alone for long periods. A work from home or retiree owner would make him happy.

His foster, Border Collie sisters, think he would love to have a companion dog in his new home.  Living around so many animals in his beginning three years of life makes him an agreeable friend.  Cats, we don’t know, since there are none in his foster family.  Squirrels are a temptation, so a fence is necessary.

My foster mom says I was a “blank slate” when she met me.  I think she is very proud that I am kennel trained, housebroken, and know so many “Human words” like sit, down, off, wait, shake hands, etc.”   It is said that “a smart dog has the vocabulary of a two-year old”.  That would certainly fit Ace.

The heartworm treatment will end toward the end of November. That will be the debut of Ace making someone very happy as an extremely loyal, smart, loving companion.

The Ace of Diamonds is considered as being lucky, and so would the owner who knows a treasure when it is seen.

Ace is being fostered in the Kansas City area.
