7 month old Ivy is adorable, silly, affectionate, playful, smart and seemingly always hungry!  She has the fluffiest chocolate-colored ears to go with her classic border collie markings.  She is currently 38# and will probably be 40-45ish when fully grown. Ivy was initially found wandering a neighborhood alone for over 2 weeks, so we know this girl can take care of herself!

Ivy loves to play with dogs, toys, humans, you name it.  But she also has a good "off switch" and is a champion at snuggling. She may be a little fearful of strangers at first if wearing hats or hoodies. She hasn’t seen any cats to our knowledge, but enjoys playing with, chasing, and being chased by other dogs.  She plays tug of war with her foster brother, and recently started a game to see who can jump farthest over the couch. She loves playing in sprinklers, and is getting more interested in taking a swim in the pool.   Ivy loves to run and run, so she would do best with a fenced yard or a family that provides her with plenty of exercise. She does enjoy walks and may be a good jogging partner if given time to work up to distance.  She’s great in the car and at the vet, where everyone loves her.

Did we mention she’s smart?  She knows sit, “touch”, wait, down (enthusiastically flops her entire body on the floor with all she’s got), kennel up, and is working on various other commands in basic puppy class. She does still jump up for attention but quickly sits when reminded. She knows to sit and wait to be invited when a door is open.  Ivy would prefer another playful dog in her forever home but may be OK as an only if she gets proper and frequent interaction with her humans.

Ivy sleeps in her crate at night, which doesn’t stop her from first sneaking into the bed and lying very still, hoping she won’t be noticed. She feigns sleep, thinking we’ll give in.  She is solidly crate trained, eats her meals there and is crated when alone in the house. She is house trained as long as she’s taken outside every few hours during the day (and doesn’t soil her kennel when crated).

Ivy is really the whole package. Like any puppy, she will thrive with continued training and exercise.  She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations and monthly preventatives.

Ivy is being fostered in the Kansas City, Missouri area.
