Coby is a beautiful 3 yr old black and white BC/Aussie mix. He was brought into rescue after being hit by a car resulting in a broken leg requiring amputation. Despite his restricted activity during recovery he has continued to show his loving, sweet disposition.

Coby loves being around his foster parents and does well with his foster brother who has been very patient and low keyed with him.  They have their moments of play and wrestling, but can turn it off as well.  He loves it outside, especially when his foster parents are working in the yard or sitting on the deck. He can handle stairs and is taking short walks (a great squirrel hunter he is!)  He is much faster and has an easier gait off leash running around the back yard.

Coby is also content curled up by your feet and has snuck up on the bed for naps with his humans a few times.  He likes nothing better than to put his head on your lap, or your arm to get head rubs.  He doesn’t mind you checking out his injuries at all, and is getting used to some easy brushing, even around the wound sites.

Coby is crate trained, house broken and knows basic commands.  He rides well in a car (just keep the windows up), doesn’t mind the vet’s office, and is a good eater.  He would do best in a home as the only dog, or with a companion dog that is calm and low keyed.  He likes to chew on bones but hasn’t got the “sharing” idea down quite yet!  He has not been cat tested.  At around 35 pounds, he needs to gain a few but will need to keep his weight under control. He is able to take longer walks gaining more strength and endurance. He would probably eventually enjoy hikes and going on adventures with his humans.

Coby loves to be close to his humans.  He loves it outside, whether playing, napping, or chasing squirrels.  He likes playing fetch and playing with his toys.  Just be careful as some are very easy for him to destroy!  He would like nothing better than to curl up next to you on a bed or couch.  He gets excited when it is time for a walk or a ride in the car.  He gets a long very well with his foster brother, but will get jealous if his foster brother is getting more attention than he is and will try to butt in.  Steps are not an issue as he flies up and down them to get outside, and easily jumps in the back of the car.  He is not afraid of getting wet when it rains or the sprinklers are running and will stand still and let you wipe his feet off before he comes back into the house.  It would be good for Coby to continue working on basic commands and training.

He is tall and lanky, with a funny bobbed tail that is adorable when wagged!

Coby is now ready for the  next chapter in his life. Everyone he encountered on his recovery journey have wanted to see this wonderful boy find his forever home.

If Coby sounds like the right boy for you, please fill out an adoption application!

Colby is being fostered in the Kansas City area.
