Coco is a beautiful, high-energy 1-year-old Border Collie with very strong herding and retrieval instincts. This girl was born to work & she is looking for a job to do. If you don't give her one, she will create her own!

Once Coco knows you she is incredibly sweet.  But she does struggle sometimes when meeting someone new people and may growl and snap if approached too quickly by strangers.  This likely is her trying to communicate "hey, get away from me! I'm scared!".  For this reason, she will need an experienced owner and will need a training/management plan for this behavior. Coco needs an experienced, calm and patient family who understands her needs, giving her space and time to settle in her home.

She has made significant progress in her foster home and can now go on walks without any barking or growling. She still takes a little bit of time (maybe a game of fetch or two) to warm up to new people, but once she does, she is the most snuggly, loving dog in the world!

She loves the outdoors and loves to PLAY! Coco loves to play disc with her foster family and it is one of her favorites games!

Coco is currently on 20mg of Fluoxetine daily and would need to continue that in her forever home, at least until her anxiety levels have decreased a bit more. Coco is working on house manners so that she can be the best roommate possible. She has a tendency to pee when she gets too excited, but she is working hard to control her bladder! She is also learning some basics like no jumping and no play biting; she is just a big puppy at heart!

Coco walks great on a gentle leader and is doing much better on a harness, knows several commands, including sit, down, shake, come, place, and touch - as well as the names of all her favorites toys!

Coco should be crated when left alone - at least until her parents can trust her to be out by herself. Coco is also good with other dogs and cats! Coco has lived with children in her foster home, and loves to give kisses with time and proper introduction. She could probably live with children in a dog savvy family and be a happy dog.

Coco needs an experienced, calm and patient family who understands her needs, giving her space and time to settle in her home. She  hopes that her new forever family likes walks, fetch, hikes, and any exercise (like, LOTS of exercise!) Coco also loves water, could be the perfect lake dog!
