Penny is a lively little puppy, she was born this July (7/23/2020), so still very young. She is a very happy-go-lucky puppy. She loves to play, either with toys or other dogs. She is very timid around strange people, so will need some time to get to know you. Once she does, she is a little lovebug! Penny still has plenty of puppy energy, but does very well with being crated during the day while we work and crated at night. She is mostly housebroken, but will still need some supervision. As long as you keep the routine of taking her out as soon as she leaves the crate and every 2-3 hours, she does very well. She does sleep all night without any problems. Penny would do well as an only dog, as long as you have plenty of time to play with her. She does like to play by herself, either with toys or in the back yard. She likes to bring in leaves and sticks to chew on! She would be good with other dogs that like to play, she still hasn't learned that our chihuahua isn't interested in playing with such a rambunctious puppy, so she would need to be with a dog that enjoys playing a bit rough. She's very playful, and loves to launch herself at our border collie, rolling over underneath her to get her to play. Penny loves to go on walks, she loves being outside and exploring. She's still learning about everything, so she will need someone with a lot of patience to show her the world is a safe place. Penny weighed in at only 17.4 lbs at her last vet visit (11/21), so she will likely be a medium-sized dog. She is reported to be a border collie/boxer cross. She doesn't seem to have the intensity of a border collie, although she's quite smart. She would make a good companion dog for someone. She's toy, treat, and praise motivated, although can be a little stubborn about coming inside when she doesn't want to! She also has prey drive for squirrels and rabbits, so Penny will need a fenced yard and to be leashed on walks Penny will be adopted with a Spay Contract--See more info on the Forms/Applications page...
