Maui is a smooth coat, border collie mix. Unsure on what we're mixed with but maybe a terrier of some sort. Before MOKAN, Maui lived in a crate outside all day and night. When her family moved, they left her behind and the landlord took her in, then they reached out to the rescue! She is around a year old or a little older. She weighs between 25-30 lbs and I do not think she will get much bigger.

Maui was a very timid girl when first entering the foster home but after a couple days, she finally opened up and started showing her personality. She is a very sweet girl, who loves all the attention you'll give her. She loves laying in your lap on the couch but spends most of her time down on the ground playing with her foster siblings and toys. She is very attentive and learning basic commands. She is probably considered a moderate to high active dog. She is crate trained and house trained.

She will need people who are willing to continue to train her. She is good on a leash and loves going on walks. She will need a durable fence, preferably wooden. She had an incident in her previous home of getting over a 4ft chain link fence, in the foster home there is a 6ft wooden fence that she has yet to act interested in even trying to climb or jump over. She is slow to warming up to new people, change seems to be difficult for her but she has been through a lot in her short life!

She would do well in a home with older respectful children but not younger. She tends to grab your hand with her mouth after you stop petting her because she wants more attention, she is never aggressive about it though. We are working on redirecting with giving her a toy when she does that and so far she is doing better. She gets along with small and medium sized dogs. She loves playing with the cat in the foster home, they have a nightly routine of running around the house together.

Maui would benefit best in an active home. She would be okay being an only dog but she would definitely love having a play mate of some sort. Maui will be the perfect companion dog for the right family!

She is currently being fostered near Springfield, MO.
