Meet JAXON (aka JAX). Jax is a very handsome 1.5 year old male Border Collie / Australian Shephard mix who loves family life, high energy activities and the companionship of other dogs. Jax had a rough start in life before he was rescued from an Oklahoma cattle ranch by his Kansas City foster family in August 2016. In a short period of time, JAX has easily adapted to his current foster home environment which includes his foster sister who’s also a herding dog. She’s shown him the ropes of becoming a real dog and of all the exciting things to do indoors and out. They love to play together. JAX loves going for walks and runs, playing with other dogs and riding in the car/truck. He is a snuggler who wants to be close to his people. He’s extremely smart and has learned many new skills with ease, such as sit, down, come, stay and go to your kennel/bed and is working on more advance training with his foster Mom. Jax is fun-loving and affectionate. He still has a lot of “puppy” behavior which the foster family believes is a result of having little to no attention by his previous owners prior to his rescue. He is learning to play ball and Frisbee and will be a pro in no time. JAX has been started on ‘competitive agility training’ by his foster Mom (who currently has a herding dog that competes under NADAC). JAX demonstrates the right skill set as a competitive agility show dog with no fear of obstacles, and demonstrates enjoyment in the daily routine of practice time and ‘challenge learnings.” His foster family believes JAX should be in a home environment with another dog of similar temperament. JAX sweet nature and ‘desire to be involved and busy’ is best suited for a family that includes their dogs in lifestyle activities. JAX has a lot of energy which requires daily exercise. JAX needs to be with a family that understands the breed and the need for mental stimulation and well as physical activities. Jax enjoys ‘rough house playing’ with other dogs. He gets a little too excited during play time which the foster family views as being a “puppy behavior” which he may grow out of as he matures. He will need to be matched with another young active dog, which enjoys this type of play style. While JAX is kennel trained, we are looking for a home where he will not be in a day-long kenneling situation. He is completely house broken and can be trusted to stay indoors during the day with no issue when left alone. JAX ideal family needs to have a large fenced yard. He will sleep in his dog bed on the floor at night, but prefers the security of sleeping with his people in their bed at night. Jax is a high energy dog that will excel in the right family, whether it is a sports home, hiking or other active lifestyle. Do you have what it takes to give Jax the life he deserves?
