Precious little Sammy has lived a humble life on the farm, having never been an indoor dog and living in an outdoor pen for seven years. Despite his age this little guy is a playful rascal who loves pestering his foster brother until they exhaust each other in wrestling matches. His fluffy tail is constantly wagging and his soulful expression is hard to say ‘no’ to when he wants to be near his human. Sammy has made major strides adjusting to indoor life, and oh boy does he love a cuddly couch for nap time! He's an inherently smart dog and is house trained and kennel trained, and is learning the manners he missed during his rural upbringing. He’s proven himself to be trainable and the behavioral marking he was accustomed to on the farm is all but remedied. He loves sitting for treats and when it's time to leash up for a walk. When he comes across a new smell it's usually nose to the ground for a bit. And who can blame him, he practically has a whole new world to explore! Sammy's new family will need to help him keep advancing on his manners, and be understanding when sometimes he just HAS to give you tons of doggie kisses. When he came into the rescue his coat was in pretty bad shape so it was shaved off and he's been sporting a 'summer cut' for a bit, but if that fluffy tail of his is any indication he'll be a handsome little poof ball again before long. Ultimately, Sammy has the perfect temperament to be a great family pet. He’s sweet to every person he meets and gets a serious case of happy-feet when he's really excited! This sweet boy deserves a family to love him and give him a soft place to sleep, and maybe an extra hug or two during a thunderstorm. It's been a joy watching him bond with his foster brother and experience the things he's missed out on for so long. He is fantastic with small or medium dogs (the more playful the better!), but would likely need time to warm up to a larger dog. He’s also been tested with cats and I expect he’d do well if kitty doesn’t run. Sammy is currently being fostered in the Kansas City area, weighs just over 30lbs, and is up to date on his records.
